Meet Lannah Stenhouse

Lannah Stenhouse literally grew up in the restaurant business. Her mother owned a Dawson Creek cafe for 13 years, and Lannah recalls spending time there since she was old enough to remember. It is where her mother taught her to cook. Later when her mother sold the business to a friend, Lannah continued working there until she was 18. After all of those years cooking (she has always made everything from scratch: "I'm old school that way!") and learning how to operate a restaurant business, she knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life. She decided to start her own cafe. She opened Baked in 2013 and may very well be Dawson Creek's youngest business owner.

Lannah's passion for food made fresh from scratch is equal only to her passion for customer service. She confesses laughingly that she doesn't always remember names, but she always remembers her customer's favourite dishes. In fact, she often has her regular customers' favourites ready for them when they walk in the door.

Lannah was born and raised in Dawson Creek. With the exception of a few months, she has never left and probably never will. "I love it here. It's home." Lannah believes that Dawson Creek has a lot going for it, not the least of which are its wonderful people. "Everyone knows everyone," she notes, adding that everyone looks out for each other and takes care of one another, especially when times are tough. "There is just so much hospitality here."
